Villa Nocino

Villa Nocino is an ancient manor house available for weekly rent set inside a 1,000-year old medieval hamlet just outside Tavernelle, in the heart of the Chianti region in Tuscany.

Location

This magnificent estate spans 10 hectares of vineyards, olive groves and the meticulously restored ancient villa which is surrounded by a large grassy area and landscaped with English roses, Mediterranean herbs and centuries old olive trees. The villa is about 2 km from Tavarnelle Val di Pesa where you can find all sorts of food shops, banks, restaurants and cafés. The location allows you to easily reach Florence or Siena via the Superstrada linking Florence and Siena, each about ½ hour away by car. The hill towns of the Chianti including Volterra, San Gimignano, Montalcino and Montepulciano are an easy day trip, while the most famous vineyards of the Chianti region are minutes away.

Surrounding the villa is a 2-hectare grassy area ideal for children to run and play. Next to the pool is a vine-covered gazebo with table and chairs ideal for enjoying an aperitif or a light meal. The swimming pool (15m x 7m x 1.4m) is set amongst the olive groves and overlooks the peaceful Tuscan countryside; there is a changing room with shower and a fridge for keeping drinks cool. A clay tennis court is a few hundred meters away (a walk-able distance) and can be booked in advance with the owners of the villa.

Entrance to the villa is through a stone-paved courtyard furnished with a large dining table for 12-20 under a gazebo. From the courtyard an entrance leads into the ground floor where there is an ancient country kitchen now equipped with professional stove, over-sized refrigerator, industrial dishwasher and marble table top. Adjacent to the kitchen is a lovely dining room with fireplace and table to accommodate between 12-20 guests. Also on the ground floor is a small twin bedded room appropriate for children or service personnel (the ceiling height is 5-6 ½ feet) with bathroom with shower. Another double bedroom on the ground floor (down 3 steps) can be set up as twin beds, and has en-suite bathroom with bath and shower.

On the second level of the villa are 2 connecting living rooms with pretty and comfy sofas, TV with Satellite, DVD and CD player, and a fireplace. The windows in each room are large and have expansive views of the surrounding countryside of Tuscany and the estate's vineyards. On this level there are 5 bedrooms: bedroom with king-size bed and view of the garden and swimming pool, en-suite bathroom with shower; bedroom with king-size bed (or twins) with view of the courtyard, en-suite bathroom with shower; bedroom with queen-size bed with view of the courtyard, en-suite bathroom with shower; bedroom with queen-size bed and view of the church and cypress-lined driveway, en-suite bathroom with shower; bedroom with single bed (another single can be added on request at no charge) with view of the garden and entrance to the villa, en-suite bathroom with shower. The rooms are fitted with antique style wrought-iron beds and orthopedic mattresses with wooden-slat bases.

A wine cellar below ground level houses the estate’s wine barrels filled with fragrant Chianti and where the estate’s olive oil is kept in storage. The owner of the property is available, on arrangement, for tours of the cellar and of the estate’s vineyards and facilities and of course wine tasting. During the grape harvest in September/October guests may participate in the harvest and fermenting process, and taste the new wine!

Please note that there is air conditioning in the bedrooms and the living room, and that there is broad band internet access in the villa at no charge.

Villa Nocino can comfortably sleep 11-12 people, and up to 14 if the small twin bedroom on the ground floor is used. Furthermore, there is a guest house on the grounds with 2 double bedrooms and 1 bathroom for an additional 4 guests. This guest house may be reserved upon payment, please inquire for details.
